Data governance: A company-wide framework that determines which decisions must be made and who should make them. This includes the definition of roles, responsibilities, obligations and rights in handling the company’s resource data. In this, data governance pursues the goal of maximizing the value of the data in the company.
While data governance determines how decisions should be made, data management makes the actual decisions and implements them.
