What is the CDQ Young Talent Award?

The CDQ Young Talent Award recognizes an outstanding master’s thesis that advance the field of corporate data management. Submissions from different research fields are welcome, ranging from business and economics to information systems, computer science and to law.

Topics may include, but are not limited to:

  • Data-centric business models and innovation (data as a service)
  • Data quality challenges and assessment
  • Valuation and monetization of data
  • Data governance, processes and organization
  • Open and linked data
  • Data architecture
  • Data life-cycle management (customer, products, assets etc.)
  • Data lineage and data supply chains
  • Semantic integration and ontologies
  • Collaborative data management in eco-systems and value chains

Who can apply for the CDQ Young Talent Award 2018?

Students who have completed their master’s thesis (written in English or German language)

  • in the field of corporate data management in 2018

  • at a University in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, or Liechtenstein

Why you should I participate at the CDQ Young Talent Award 2018?

Here’s a list of the reasons why you should participate in the competition. As winner...

  • You get acknowledgement for your thesis and a prize of 1000 CHF
  • You are entitled to participate at the CDQ Academy consisting of three course modules on corporate data management with a value of more than 6000 CHF 
  • You are invited to join the CC CDQ Workshop ( 8 . -9. Mai 2019) and meet data management experts from CDQ partner companies such as ABB, Beiersdorf, Bosch, Nestlé, SBB, Siemens, ZF.

How can I participate?

1) Please submit the following documents in PDF format to the email address :

  • Master’s thesis (in English or German)
  • Recommendation from the supervising professor
  • Motivation letter explaining the relevance of the master thesis to corporate data management
  • CV

With the application, the participants consent to the publication of their name as well as the title of their submitted Master’s thesis on and in other media (e.g. Twittern, Linkedin, etc) associated with the CDQ Young Talent Award. The award winner is expected to present a short overview of this thesis at the CC CDQ Workshop on 8.- 9. Mai 2018.

What are the selection criteria?

  • Scientific excellence: The Master’s thesis is based on the current state of knowledge, uses appropriate methodology and the research has been conducted in a scientifically rigorous way.
  • Innovation: The Master’s thesis supports a new way of working or pioneers an original change in data management. It stimulates new thinking, or lays the foundation for further innovation.
  • Relevancy to practice: The Master’s thesis result has potential business value and supports the transformation towards the digital and data-driven enterprise
